It depends — Mistral Le Chat trains on consumer/free-tier data by default but excludes business, enterprise and API tiers.
Mistral uses Le Chat Free, Pro and Student input/output to train its models by default unless you opt out; Team and Enterprise plans and the API are excluded, and the API offers Zero Data Retention.
Can you opt out?
In Le Chat, open Settings → Le Chat → Privacy and disable the toggle "Allow your interactions to be used to train our models." Uploaded documents count as input data, so opt out to keep them out of training. Team/Enterprise users are opted out by default and cannot opt in. Note: thumbs up/down feedback can still be used to improve models on any plan.
Zero retention / DPA
Zero Data Retention is available on the API (La Plateforme): when enabled, inputs/outputs are not retained and the 30-day abuse-monitoring window does not apply. What the listicles get wrong
