Does Notion AI train its models on your data?
No — Notion AI does not use your content to train its AI models by default.
By default Notion and its AI subprocessors (including OpenAI and Anthropic) do not use your customer data to train any models, and Notion has contractual agreements prohibiting those subprocessors from training on it.
Can you opt out?
No opt-out is needed for training — it is off by default and subprocessors are contractually barred from training on your data. A separate opt-in "AI LEAP Program" lets you choose to share data to help Notion improve.
Zero retention / DPA
Retention at the model provider varies by plan: Free, Plus and Business allow providers to keep request data up to 30 days; Enterprise uses zero-retention APIs so data is deleted as soon as the request is processed. DPA ↗
What the listicles get wrong
Default no-training, but data does transit third-party providers (OpenAI, Anthropic); the zero-retention guarantee is Enterprise-only.
