Does QuillBot train its models on your data?
Yes — QuillBot trains on your data by default; you have to opt out.
QuillBot uses your inputs and usage data to train and improve its models by default. Since the 8 Nov 2025 privacy update, desktop/web/add-in text inputs are stored on QuillBot servers and may be used for training; storing inputs is on by default for everyone. Account-holders can opt out of training; Team Plan inputs are excluded from training by default.
Can you opt out?
Two granular controls in account/extension Data & Privacy settings: (1) storing your text inputs (available to all users) and (2) using inputs to train the models that power QuillBot's AI tools (available to account-holders only). For prior consenters, the old consent setting carried over to the new training control. Extension users need v4.37.0+.

No zero-data-retention offering for consumers: storing text inputs is on by default for everyone and inputs are retained on QuillBot servers to personalize and train models unless you change the data controls.
